Hi and Welcome!
Let me start out by saying that this is my first blog entry on this site.
I'm doing things a little differently though. Along with regular blog entries that i post, I'm also going to answer any questions you have about anything. It doesn't matter what the question is; and don't worry if you think it's a stupid one because no questions can be as stupid as the ones I ask myself daily, so just feel free to ask or rant away in my comments section. I will try to get to all of your questions or respond to any of the comments you might have. You will know if I responded to your question or comment by looking at the title of the blog. Thank you, Paije
I always get questions about work. A lot of people seem to be unhappy with their jobs. Below is a question that seemed to turn into a short story. ;) Which I love because then I have a lot more to respond to! So thanks for your question, I will respond below.
Q.
Okay; so after four cups of coffee with 3 creams and 6 heaping spoons of sugar, it's officially 9:36 a.m. Since I got to work 15 minutes late today, I have to stay till 3:15 which will undoubtedly turn into at least 3:30 because Jenna the intern is having a breakdown and needs help reloading the documents she accidentally deleted; again. So that means I have about six hours left. But since I thought it was at least 12:30 and time seems to triple itself here, does that mean I really have 18 hours left, cause that's what it feels like. Oh great, here comes my supervisor Brenda. Maybe she's going to ask me why I'm fifteen to thirty minutes late for work everyday. Hold on for a sec, I need to take a few deep breaths......................Well at least I've calmed down a little. But my now calm demeanor is not stopping this reoccurring thought in my mind that's screaming WHY AM I HERE? WHY AM I HERE? WHY AM I HERE? Please help me Paije! Should I stay at a job I absolutely hate? thanx, Rachel

Hi Rachel,
Hopefully today is going a little better for you than yesterday. :)
I can completely understand where your coming from because I've found myself in your position many times before. Sometimes it just takes a little while before you realize that your job is mentally and physically draining you, until one day it just slaps you in your face like a ton of bricks! It's also hard when you have to deal with the side affects of someone Else's job, like Jenna's. I'm not saying you shouldn't help out your co-workers and interns, I'm just saying it can easily tire you out when you have to worry about someone Else's work besides your own. Okay, lets get to your question now. There are a lot of different ways to answer this question but I will tell you what I would do. First, cut your coffee intake in half.(I'm kidding)
You have to make a decision. You need to sit down and ask your self what has truly been stopping you from leaving in the first place when you hate your job so severely. Do you make a substantial amount of money and wouldn't be able to find another job with the same salary? Are you afraid of change? Would it be hard to break your everyday routine of eat, sleep, work?
But let me tell you something; No job is worth compromising your well-being! All kinds of sour things can arise from hating your job; like depression, stress, lashing out at others, etc..... You need to find what it is you truly love in life and set goals to attain that love. For example, if you love dogs, you should try to find a job that has something to do with dogs. Even if your making a lower income, and as long as you can still pay your bills and eat, you would be surprised at how remarkably better you will feel! But if you feel you just can't quit at the moment, definitely take at least a day trip, and write down the goals it would take in order for you to quit in the near future. This will also make you feel better. Mainly because even though you know you have to stay for a while, writing down, seeing your goals and completing them, will absolutely change the way your feeling and thinking. You will be working towards a new job and know that you will not be doomed to your current job forever! I hope I have helped you. Make sure you write back soon and tell me how your doing! Thank you for your question, Paije
